Miss Mina Murray
About Me

Miss Mina Murray is one of New England's finest classic burlesque dancers.  She specializes in the elegant striptease and flirtatous fan dance. As co-founder of the Boston Babydolls, she was instrumental in the revitalization of burlesque in the Boston area.

The Boston Babydolls have received a number of "Best of" awards from local publications:

Miss Mina was a finalist for a Golden Pastie Award at the 2012 New York Burlesque Festival and was named one of Boston's 16 best dance instructors for 2012 by Rate Your Burn.

As Headmistress of The Boston Academy of Burlesque Education®, she has taught hundreds of women to bump, grind, and twirl tassels. B.A.B.E., as we like to call it, has its own studio in Boston, but teachers are available to teach at your venue. For information on classes and private lessons, please see the Teaching page.

Also she hosted the Boston Chapter of Naked Girls Reading from January 2010 to March 2013.

Fun Stuff

Miss Mina...

...is named after her great-grandmother, Wilhelmina, who was once arrested for indecent exposure on the beach. She had rolled her bathing suit up above her ankles!

...loves sailing and once spent some time as student-crew on a tall ship. You can see that very ship in Master and Commander:The Far Side of the World and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

...is an award-winning costumer and makes most of her own costumes for stage. She also has performed in costumes that were originally worn by Angie Pontani and Catherine D'Lish.

...uses the tagline "The Ivy League mind in the Combat Zone body".

...has her fans custom made by The Scarlett Rose.

...was trained in Museum Studies at Harvard and currently serves on the Museum Issues Committee at The Burlesque Hall of Fame.

...loves tea and all the rituals associated with it. She prefers Darjeeling, with lemon, no sugar, but likes most flavors of black tea. Except Earl Gray. Her pet peeve is people who call afternoon tea "high tea" because it sounds grander. Afternoon tea is the dainty meal with finger sandwiches, scones, and petit fours. High tea  is more sustantial meal, served as a substitue for supper. Common high tea dishes are Welsh rabbit, beans on toast, or scrambled eggs. High tea is so called because it is eaten at a high dining table, not because it is a high occasion. Afternoon tea can also be called "low tea", since it's taken at a low tea table. Now go forth, drink tea, and do not mix them up again.

...has an obsession with leopard print. Most days she's wearing at least one leopard item.

...believes strongly in continuing education and learning from the best. She has been fortunate to take worskops from some of the top names in burlesque including Michelle L'amour, Jo Weldon, Indigo Blue, Princess Farhana... so far.

...is a bibliophile. You can see what she's been reading in the Boston Babydolls' Library and the Naked Girls Reading Book Club.

...loves surprises and presents. If you send Miss Mina a gift, she will pose for a picture with your present... naked!
